Things look different...

February 21st, 2008

If you're wondering why, it's because I upgraded the b2evo install to the newest version. I think things still mostly work...

Since I'm here, I thought I'd share this sweet video of young love. Happy Valentine's Season!

Happy Holidays People!

December 20th, 2007

So as everyone is defecting to the bliss that is a Wordpress blog, I thought that I'd try to chime in here a bit.

Okay so 2007 is almost over. Hitoshi wasn't around town and didn't write in much aside from the occasional rant. Eugene was off in Guelph land earning degrees and ultimating. Simo came back from the east coast to spend his time setting chef clothes on fire and remembering why he hates winter. I realized how easy it is to get totally absorbed in work, and not having much of a life outside of that.

It's the holiday season, and well, I'm going to be working. I get 3-1/2 days as normal stat days, but for the second year in a row I'll be working all the business days through Christmas and New Years. As that is, it's sort of hard to get into the holiday spirit. My only dose of the festivities this year has been some new cover of 'Last Christmas' they play on the radio.

At this time of year, everyone is talking about buying presents, spending time with family, big dinners, volunteering time and money... and I'm just too busy I feel like it's whizzing by!

That said, I've been really lucky this year. Most of my family is going to be together for a couple days and there are lots of opportunities to see lots of friends I haven't seen in a while. For some divine reason, everything has been falling in place, with each day something different happening with a different group of friends. I'm really looking forward to the holidays.

But despite all the social activity, it seems like fate that my New Years Eve is totally unbooked. As if I were destined to plan something for it. So the question comes, you guys want to ring in the new year with some Rock Band?

Resistance is futile. You will be plushed.

Okay, so I wasn't being totally truthful when I said Las Vegas was pure evil. There was the Star Trek Experience and awesome Star Trek swag.

Brain blockage

August 28th, 2007

So I just got back from a tour through Las Vegas and Los Angeles and I learned a couple of things about the world and about myself.

Las Vegas is evil evil evil. It's such a sinful place and it tempts you with its 1200 sq foot hotel rooms, 36,000 sq foot nightclubs, and casinos with free booze. It brings out the party hungry who seem to live for living lavishly and looking the part. And the place convinces you that the Las Vegas way is the only way to live. I got suckered by it for a moment, and although I can feel a little LV withdrawal, I'm glad to be back to seeing grass and people that work hard.

Los Angeles on the other hand is everything I love about big cities. Much like how New York turned me into a hopeless romantic, Los Angeles is the second city that makes me wish I could throw my whole life aside and pursue the perfect urban lifestyle.

What is it about afflictions of the heart that makes people convince themselves to do stupid things that don't make sense?

Summer of Poutine

April 14th, 2007

I'm calling it. This is officially the pre-season of the hiyo.org summer of poutine. Over the next few months I will be talking a lot about poutine and will probably try to plan more than one poutine-related road trip.

Consider hiyo.org poutine hijacked!

I've always been worried about how to make the perfect gravy.

Harvest Moon is my new favorite game.

Of all time! Really! Ask Simon about it.

I can taste it.

I have no idea what this game is about. But I took one glance at the box art, and man do I want it.
